When Is A Web Hacker Good For My Business?

Answer:

When you ask for it.

A new trend in business is to enhance ones sense of security for their website and/or confidential business data. An emerging trend to ensure your website, business server or database is secure is to hire a professional hacker and have them target you for an evaluation. Sounds crazy! However, this way an independent business owner can actually see how resilient and secure their confidential data and business information truly is.

In order to complete a web security check, a survey and full report must be compiled by the professional hacker, which exposes vulnerabilities as well as suggestions to remediate the holes. Once completed, the assessment must be repeated and tested on a regular basis to ensure the security fences and forces are impenetrable and remain so.

Most business owners do not realize that these openings may have been created by developers that work on websites or databases and forget to close these openings, which leads to hackers entering a system or database.

Constant monitoring and surveillance can find these vulnerabilities and should be remediated immediately to keep confidential information secure.

A recent survey with over 1,200 respondents conducted by The Small Business Authority stated that 27 percent of small business owners have had an outside party test their computer systems to ensure they are hacker proof. Very few business owners have taken the necessary precaution of having a professional data security firm perform an assessment. With recent breaches of security at Citi Bank and Sony, small business owners should step up and ensure their confidential business information is protected.
